German Church in Petzow - by Bastelbogen-Online - Igreja Alemã

Photobucket

PhotobucketPetzow has been a suburb of Werder since 1929. This name was first mentioned in a 1419 document. The suburb has a church, a palace, a manor and a park, all of which worth a visit. Petzow is situated on a land bridge between two lakes: Glindower See and Schwielowsee. The architectural style of the palace is a mixture of English Tudor and Italian Castel. In 1825, the mansion was restored the Prussian royal court's architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The Park of Petzow was designed by the garden architect Peter Joseph Lenné.
Petzow was the southernmost settlement included Lenné's plan in 1833 to improve the landscape of the Potsdam area. The harmonious architecture and aesthetics impart the building and its environment a special charm. Petzow's Church was built in 1842. Friedrich Wilhelm the 4th King of Prussia inaugurated it formally. The church tower has been since open to visitors who wish to admire the panoramic view of the village and the nearby Havel lakes. The magnificent landscape has become a world known through the paintings of (1814) of Carl Friedrich August Kaehne. - berlinwalking.com

Temple Of Horus - by Thomas Pleiner - Templo de Hórus

The Real Thing
My friend Slawomir, from Poland, send me this model, and now I share it with you.
The Temple of Edfu is an ancient Egyptian temple located on the west bank of the Nile in the city of Edfu which was known in Greco-Roman times as Apollonopolis Magna, after the chief god Horus-Apollo. It is one of the best preserved temples in Egypt. The temple, dedicated to the falcon god Horus, was built in the Ptolemaic period between 237 and 57 BCE. The inscriptions on its walls provide important information on language, myth and religion during the Greco-Roman period in ancient Egypt. In particular, the Temple's inscribed building texts "provide details [both] of its construction, and also preserve information about the mythical interpretation of this and all other temples as the Island of Creation." There are also "important scenes and inscriptions of the Sacred Drama which related the age-old conflict between Horus and Seth."
The temple of Edfu is the largest temple dedicated to Horus and Hathor of Dendera. It was the center of several festivals sacred to Horus. Each year, "Hathor travelled south from her temple at Denderah to visit Horus at Edfu, and this event marking their sacred marriage was the occasion of a great festival and pilgrimage. - Wikipedia

Orca Whale Paper Model - by Epson - Baleia Orca

The Real Thing
The killer whale (Orcinus orca), commonly referred to as the orca, and less commonly as the blackfish, is a toothed whale belonging to the oceanic dolphin family. Killer whales are found in all oceans, from the frigid Arctic and Antarctic regions to tropical seas. Killer whales as a species have a diverse diet, although individual populations often specialize in particular types of prey. Some feed exclusively on fish, while others hunt marine mammals such as sea lions, seals, walruses and even large whales. Killer whales are regarded as apex predators, lacking natural predators and preying on even large sharks.
Killer whales are highly social; some populations are composed of matrilineal family groups which are the most stable of any animal species. Their sophisticated hunting techniques and vocal behaviors, which are often specific to a particular group and passed across generations, have been described as manifestations of culture.
The IUCN currently assesses the orca's conservation status as data deficient because of the likelihood that one or more killer whale types are separate species. Some local populations are considered threatened or endangered due to prey depletion, habitat loss, pollution (by PCBs), capture for marine mammal parks, and conflicts with fisheries. In late 2005, the killer whales known as the "southern resident killer whales" were placed on the U.S. Endangered Species list.
Wild killer whales are not considered a threat to humans, although there have been cases of captives killing or injuring their handlers at marine theme parks. Killer whales feature strongly in the mythologies of indigenous cultures, with their reputation ranging from being the souls of humans to merciless killers. - Wikipedia

- Wikipedia

Three Canon`s models of the World Heritage Site Eifell Tower: By Day, By Night and Day and Night.
The Eiffel Tower (French: La Tour Eiffel, nickname La dame de fer, the iron lady) is a puddle iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Mars in Paris. Built in 1889, it has become both a global icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. The tower is the tallest building in Paris and the most-visited paid monument in the world; millions of people ascend it every year. Named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel, the tower was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair. The tower stands 324 metres (1,063 ft) tall, about the same height as an 81-storey building. Upon its completion, the Eiffel Tower surpassed the Washington Monument to assume the title of the tallest man-made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years, until the Chrysler Building in New York City was built in 1930. However, due to the addition, in 1957, of the antenna atop the Eiffel Tower, is now taller than theChrysler Building. Not including broadcast antennas, it is the second-tallest structure in France, after the  Millau Viaduct

The Seven Wonders Of The Ancient World - by Fix & Fox

The Seven Wonders of the World (or the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World) refers to remarkable constructions of classical antiquity listed by various authors in guidebooks popular among the ancient Hellenic tourists, particularly in the 1st and 2nd centuries BC. The most prominent of these, the versions by Antipater of Sidon and an observer identified as Philon of Byzantium, comprise seven works located around the Mediterranean rim. The original list inspired innumerable versions through the ages, often listing seven entries. Of the original Seven Wonders, only one—the Great Pyramid of Giza, the oldest of the ancient wonders—has remained relatively intact until the present day.  - Wikipedia

Hanging Gardens of Babylon - Jardins Suspensos da Babilônia

PhotobucketDiodorus Siculus described multi-levelled gardens reaching 22 metres (75 feet) high, complete with machinery for circulating water. Large trees grew on the roof. Built by Nebuchadnezzar II for his wife Amytis of Media.

Mausoleum of Halicarnassus - Mausoléu de Halicarnasso

Photobucket
Stood approximately 45 meters (150 feet) tall, with each of the four sides adorned with sculptural reliefs. Origin of the word mausoleum, the tomb built for Mausolus, a satrap in the Persian Empire.

Statue of Zeus at Olympia - Estátua de Zeus em Olímpia

PhotobucketOccupied the whole width of the aisle of the temple that was built to house it, and was 12 meters (40 feet) tall. Only wonder to be moved from original location.

Colossus of Rhodes - O Colosso de Rhodes

PhotobucketA giant statue of the Greek god Helios, god of the sun, c. 35 m (110 ft) tall.

Temple of Artemis at Ephesus - Templo de Ártemis, em Éfeso

PhotobucketDedicated to the Greek goddess Artemis, it took 120 years to build. Herostratus burned it down to achieve lasting fame. Rebuilt by Alexander the Great only to be destroyed again by the Goths.

Lighthouse of Alexandria - O Farol de Alexandria

PhotobucketBetween 115 and 135 meters (380 – 440 ft) high, it was among the tallest structures on Earth for many centuries. The name of the island that it was built on, Pharos, eventually became the Latin word for lighthouse, pharos.

Great Pyramid of Giza - A Grande Pirâmide de Gizé

Photobucket

It's 756 feet long on each side, 450 feet high and is composed of 2,300,000 blocks of stone, each averaging 2 1/2 tons in weight. Despite the makers' limited surveying tools, no side is more than 8 inches different in length than another, and the whole structure is perfectly oriented to the points of the compass. Even in the 19th century, it was the tallest building in the world and, at the age of 4,500 years, it is the only one of the famous "Seven Wonders of the Ancient World" that still stands. Even today it remains the most massive building on Earth. It is the Great Pyramid of Khufu, at Giza, Egypt.

The Paper Thing

PhotobucketChameleons (family Chamaeleonidae) are a distinctive and highly specialized clade of lizards. They are distinguished by their parrot-like zygodactylous feet, their separately mobile and stereoscopic eyes, their very long, highly modified, and rapidly extrudable tongues, their swaying gait, the possession by many of a prehensile tail, crests or horns on their distinctively shaped heads, and the ability of some to change color. Uniquely adapted for climbing and visual hunting, the approximately 160 species of chameleon range from Africa, Madagascar, Spain and Portugal, across south Asia, to Sri Lanka, have been introduced to Hawaii, California and Florida, and are found in warm habitats that vary from rain forest to desert conditions. - Wikipedia

The Real Thing
- Wikipedia
